AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University baseball senior Matt Meeks has been named the Peach Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon. Meeks earns the award for his pitching performance at Georgia Southwestern Feb.23 in Americus, Ga.

Meeks pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts as the Jaguars opened up a three-game conference series at GSW with a 7-1 win. The senior righty from Kite, Ga., allowed only four hits and one earned run and walked only two. After giving up a solo home run in the third, he retired eight in a row and retired the side in order three times.

He completed the game on 107 pitches, 73 for strikes. Meeks is tied for second in the PBC in complete games and is fourth in innings pitched. This is the 11th PBC Pitcher of the Week award of all time for the Jaguars.

Augusta begins a nine game home stretch on Tuesday, Feb. 27 with a single non-conference game against North Greenville in Lake Olmstead Stadium.
