Augusta Wraps West Georgia Series With 7-6 Loss

CARROLLTON, Ga., - The Augusta University baseball met the West Georgia Wolves for the third-straight day at Cole Field in Carrollton, Ga., and gave up an early lead to lose a 7-6 close non-conference game in extra innings.

 

Augusta (0-3) took an early 5-0 lead, but the Wolves put up five in the sixth inning to even the contest. The Jags got one run in the 10th inning, but UWG (3-0) managed two runs in the bottom of the inning to win 7-6.

 

Senior lefty Will Thompson logged his first start of the year and pitched 5.0 innings. Casey Lenoch and Joey Stillwell pitched in relief and Stillwell picked up the loss.

 

Senior Clint Hardy was 3-5 with three runs and junior Ty Hobbs went 2-4 with three RBI. Each team had 10 hits on the day.

 

Augusta hosts the Erskine Flying Fleet on Wednesday, Feb. 8 for the 2017 home opener at Lake Olmstead Stadium. First pitch is set for a 2:00 p.m. for the non-conference contest.
