Augusta Drops Game Two At West Georgia, 8-5

CARROLLTON, Ga., - The Augusta University baseball team continued its season-opening series on Saturday afternoon at West Georgia and dropped an 8-5 non-conference game on Cole Field.

 

Augusta (0-2) had 10 hits to UWG's (2-0) 11 and recorded three errors to the Wolves' two. Seniors Cody Lanford and Jamal Cummings led the Jags offensively, as Lanford went 2-4 with two RBI and Cummings 3-4 with three runs.

 

Senior slinger Matthew Kuhlenberg logged the first start of his senior season and went 3.2 innings to allow four runs on four hits. David Hagelston and Beau Dalton pitched in relief.

 

UWG's Turner Edwards started and went 4.2 innings in the start, but Colton Duttweiler got the win in 1.2 innings of relief.

 

Augusta wraps up the non-conference series on Sunday, Feb. 5 with a 1:00 p.m. single game in Carrollton, Ga.
