Augusta University Announces Updated 2017 Baseball Schedule

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University head baseball coach Chris Howell has announced the 2017 spring schedule, which will begin Friday, February 3 on the road. The Augusta Jaguars have 48games total on the new slate with 22 home games scheduled. The Jags host all their games at Lake Olmstead Stadium.

"We are ready for the 2017 season along with the new players in our program. The Jaguars open up in Carrollton against West Georgia to start our non-conference schedule," Howell said. "There are 13 new faces in our program and we are excited about the hard work and dedication the players have invested. Lake Olmstead Stadium is a great college venue for our home games and we look forward to playing in front of our home crowd."

 

This season fans can purchase a season ticket pass for $25. The season ticket passes this year are a punch card with 14 available entries. General admission is $5 at the gate and will only be charged for Peach Belt Conference games.

 

The season opens with a non-conference series at West Georgia in Carrollton, Ga., from Feb. 3-5. Augusta hosts six games in the next 12 days to break in Lake Olmstead for the season.

 

Howell and the Jags host Erskine College on Wednesday, Feb. 8 for the 2017 home opener at 2:00 p.m. and welcome West Georgia for back-to-back single non-conference games Feb. 11-12. Familiar foes Paine College will travel to the Jaguars on Wednesday, Feb. 15 for the first of two regular-season meetings between the squads at 2:00 p.m.

 

Augusta plays a doubleheader at Anderson University in Anderson, S.C., on Saturday, Feb. 18 and wraps the three-game set on Sunday, Feb. 19 with a 2:00 p.m. home game at LOS.

 

The Jaguars will open the 2017 Peach Belt Conference schedule Feb. 24 on the road at Francis Marion in Florence, S.C.

 

Augusta hosts nine straight games to open the month of March. The Jags Play Newberry March 1, Georgia Southwestern for the first home PBC series March 3-4, Saginaw Valley State on March 7, Shorter on March 8, and UNC Pembroke for another league series March 10-12.

 

Seven of the next 10 dates of March are on the road – excluding a PBC weekend with Armstrong State March 24-25 at Lake Olmstead Stadium. Augusta plays at Catawba in Salisbury, N.C., (April 1) and Erskine in Due West, S.C., and (April 5) to begin competition in April.

 

The team heads to rival USC Aiken April 7-9 for three single games in Peach Belt action, beginning Friday, April 7 at 6:30 p.m. in Aiken, S.C. Lenoir-Rhyne visits Augusta for a midweek non-conference game on Wednesday, April 12 at 5:00 p.m. before the Jags play their final PBC series on the road in Milledgeville, Ga., against Georgia College April 14-16.

 

The Jaguars welcome Lander April 21 and April 23 for their final series at Lake Olmstead Stadium. Augusta plays the Bearcats Friday for a single game at 2:00 p.m. and hosts a doubleheader on Sunday, April 23 at 1:00 p.m.

 

For the second-consecutive season, the Jaguars will play a series at LakePoint Sporting Community in Emerson, Ga. Augusta will play a non-conference series with Columbus State on Friday and Saturday, April 28-29.
