Nick Rau Signs Pro Contract With Lincoln Saltdogs

LINCOLN, Neb. – Augusta University 2016 baseball senior Nick Rau signed a professional contract with the Lincoln Saltdogs in Lincoln, Nebraska, on Wednesday August, 10. The Saltdogs are a member of the Central Division of the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball.

The Saltdogs compete at Haymarket Park since 2001 and have been members of the American Association since 2006.

Nick Rau (Thomson, Ga.) spent his second-consecutive summer in San Francisco, Calif., as a member of Top Speed Baseball in the Golden State Collegiate Baseball League. Rau helped Top Speed win another GSCBL Championship with a 47-4 overall record and earn a No. 5 national ranking by collegiatesummerbaseball.com.

In week six of Rau's summer season, he was named the Collegiate Summer Baseball (CSB) National Hitter of the Week. Rau hit .500 that week and went 12-for-24 at the plate with six home runs, two doubles, and 13 RBI. He also only struck out once in 26 plate appearances for the week.

 

As the starting third baseman for the season, Rau hit .349 in 44 games played and 129 at bats. He blasted 11 homers and 45 hits total while scoring 47 runs with 31 RBI.

Rau was a junior-transfer to the Jaguars for the 2015 season. He was named the MVP for Augusta in 2015 and made every start at second base. In his senior campaign in 2016, Rau Compiled a .335 batting average while starting all 51 games in the infield.

Rau arrives with the Saltdogs August 10 and suits up for their 7:05 p.m. first pitch at the Kansas City T-Bones.
