AUGUSTA, Ga. – Two Augusta University baseball players have been named to their respective summer league All-Star teams. Rising seniors Tyler Roberts and Clint Hardy earned the accolade, as Roberts was named a shortstop for the Futures League and Hardy an outfielder for the Coastal Plain League.
Tyler Roberts (Fayetteville, Ga.) is playing with the Bristol Blues in Bristol, Conn., for his second straight summer – following in the footsteps of his family members. Roberts is batting .319 in 26 games played with 30 hits, 12 RBI, and 10 runs as the starting shortstop.
The fifth annual Futures League All-Star Game will be hosted at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field on the campus of Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass., by the Worcester Bravehearts. The mid-summer classic will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2016.
Clint Hardy (Evans, Ga.) has spent his summer as the starting right fielder for the thriving Savannah Bananas. This is the second season that Hardy picked up a summer ball All-Star accolade. Hardy is hitting .376 in 117 at bats with a team-leading 44 hits and 23 RBI and runs. He has 11 doubles, two triples, and one homer with no errors.
The Coastal Plain League 2016 All-Star Fan Fest and All-Star Game was hosted by the Fayetteville SwampDogs at J.P. Riddle Stadium in Fayetteville, N.C., July 10-11.
