Saints Come From Behind, 4-3

AUGUSTA, Ga. – After the opening doubleheader where each team combined for 34 runs, the Augusta State Jaguars ended the Peach Belt Conference series against the North Georgia Saints with a   Sunday afternoon 4-3 loss at Lake Olmstead Stadium.

Senior righty Dylan Wall pitched into the ninth inning to give up nine hits for four runs (three earned) and striking out two. Freshman David Bermudez (2-1) relieved in the ninth inning after Wall walked the two leadoff men. Bermudez gave up a double for the go ahead runs in the top of the ninth.

Saints starter Jacob Beauchamp retired the side for two consecutive innings until ASU freshman Justin Mee broke it open with a double to right-center field. Walks to Logan South and JD Sabo brought up senior Justin Appel who drove in two RBIs on a single through the left side. Another walk loaded the bases for freshman Hunter Boose who hit a run-producing fielder's choice for a 3-0 lead. Right-hander Chris Cobb relieved Beauchamp in the third and went the rest of the game in the win, giving up three hits for no runs.

The Saints plated their first run in the top of the fifth when Travis Naraine led off with a double and Brad Barto drove him in with a sacrifice fly to center. With two outs, an infield error progressed the inning for UNG and Jesse Strickland delivered with a single for an unearned run to cut it to a one-run game.

Wall pitched into the ninth until two leadoff walks brought in freshman right-handed reliever David Bermudez. A sac bunt moved runners to second and third and Jake McCurry delivered a bases clearing double to right center to take a 4-3 final lead as Cobb retired the side in ninth to end it with a looking strikeout.
