Jaguars Earn Top 10 Finish at Nationals

Augusta, Ga. – The No. 16 Augusta University Men's Cross Country team capped off an historic season with a ninth place finish at the NCAA Division II National Championships in Sacramento, Cal. The finish is the highest ever for the Jags in the program's history. Colorado School of Mines, who entered the meet as the top ranked team in the country, won the national championship. No. 5 Adams State earned a runner-up finish, with No. 2 Chico State taking third.

In the field of 34 competing schools, Augusta finished higher than 13 other nationally ranked opponents, three of which were ranked in the top 10.  

Jacob Poston was the top finisher for the Jaguars, finishing 39th overall with a time of 30:57.3. Coming in at 47th was Chase Kennedy with a 31:05.6 finishing time, followed by Jacob Burgamy who came in 66th at 31:19.4. Rounding out the top five finishers for the squad were Chandler Kennedy and Kai Brickey who both finished in 74th and 106th respectively in the field of 267 runners.

On the women's side, Micah Weathers competed as an individual in the championships. Weathers capped off an impressive season with a 44th individual finish in the 6k race out of 261 runners.

Augusta heads into offseason looking back on the past season that saw the Men's team bring home their fourth PBC Championship, a second place finish at the regional meet, and a top ten finish in the National Championships. The Women saw the first individual Peach Belt Champion in program history, and can look forward to similar performances next year.
