Cross Country Set for Southeast Regional

Augusta Ga. – Augusta University's Men's and Women's Cross Country squads are gearing up for an exciting weekend as they head off to compete at the NCAA Southeast Regional (hosted by Wingate).

The men's team has garnered national recognition headed into the meet, as they are ranked #24 in the nation, thanks in part to a dominant performance in the PBC Championship that saw all seven Jaguar runners finish in the top 10. In addition to their national rank, the Jaguars find themselves as the third ranked team in the region, behind both Queens and Mount Olive. Queens has garnered a national ranking of 18th in the country, while Mount Olive boasts a ranking of 15th. All three are expected to have an excellent showing in the upcoming regional meet.

On the women's side, Micah Weathers has earned the attention of many as she is regarded as the top runner for the southeast region. Weather posted outstanding performances during the year that saw her take home numerous accomplishments, including PBC Runner of the Year and the PBC Individual Champion, a first for any Augusta Jaguar. The team is currently ranked seventh in the region headed into the meet. None of the squads competing in the upcoming regional are nationally ranked, however Queens, who is top ranked for the Southeast, has received a vote for the national rankings. Wingate is second in the region poll, with the PBC Champion Flagler Saints in third.

Both squads head to Wingate, N.C. for the NCAA Southeast Regional on Saturday, November 9th, in the hopes of bringing home some more hardware, and to continue an already historic season.
